Barnhart pledges support for Calipari
CHICAGO — Before they hired John Calipari as the men’s basketball coach at the University of Kentucky, UK officials were aware of an NCAA investigation into possible major rules violations at Memphis while Calipari was the head coach there.
However, the NCAA’s enforcement office did not speak to UK officials about Calipari’s involvement or lack thereof in the alleged violations of academic fraud and improper payment for travel of the associate of a Memphis player, an NCAA spokeswoman said.
