Optimism for Ole Miss football — and ex-Rebel Oher

HUNTSVILLE, AL. — Mike Markuson, the offensive line coach and running game coordinator at Ole Miss, was a guest of the North Alabama Ole Miss Club Thursday night, and the club officials were nice enough to invite me over for a visit with Markuson. He’s a good guy who recruits this area and used to be an assistant coach at Alabama A&M.
We didn’t get a lot of time, but we did cover a lot of territory. Much of that will be in Friday’s story in The Huntsville Times.

He’s obviously cautious about all pre-season hype for the Rebels, who finished 2008 with such a flourish and return a majority of starters.
“You’re constantly telling your guys, ‘Don’t buy into that stuff. That’s the prognosticators and people that really don’t know.’
