Warrs will know names of witnesses sooner

U.S. District Judge Walter J. Gex, for the most part, upheld a magistrate judge’s ruling in the Katrina fraud case against Brent and Laura Warr, ordering prosecutors to turn over 30 days before trial the names of witnesses listed in the indictment as co-conspirators and to supply more information about a false statement the Warrs are accused of making to FEMA.

The Warrs requested the information, saying they needed it to defend themselves.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office had argued the names of co-conspirators should be turned over five days before trial, when witness lists are due. Prosecutors also maintained the indictment supplied enough information about the false statement.
