Erie newspaper writes extended story on Cochran’s remarks, editorial follows
The last sentence of the Boston Globe story about U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter’s defection from the Republican Party really riled an already annoyed Kevin S. Dietly.
The story ended: “‘Senator (Thad) Cochran said at least he wouldn’t have to go to Erie anymore to campaign for me,’ Specter recounted, referring to a Mississippi Republican and a dismal lakeside city in the northwestern corner of Pennsylvania.”
Dietly, a Cathedral Preparatory School graduate whose parents still live in his boyhood home on Mohawk Drive, fired off a letter to the Boston Globe editor about Specter’s quoted comment.
