Haley Barbour for President in 2012?
His reputation is on the rise, thanks to his post-Katrina successes in Mississippi. But Gov. Haley Barbour won’t make a commitment to run for president in 2012, as some friends urge. Recalling some old advice he gave to candidates after President Clinton won, Barbour says Republicans should first focus on constituents and the 2010 midterm election. “What’s good for the goose,” he says, “is good for the gander.” So should we come back in 2011 and ask? “If I’m still around,” he says, not closing the door to a run.
