Draft day is graduation day for SEC schools
In Myles Brand’s mythical world where college football players are “student-athletes” and everyone is in school to become a professional in something other than sports, today’s NFL Draft is not a big deal.
But in the real world where the NCAA’s biggest and most profitable member institutions are competing as ferociously off the field for the services of those “student” athletes as they do on the field for the entertainment dollar those athletes bring, today’s NFL Draft is Graduation Day.
This is when the best and brightest of the college football world see if their three, four or five years of hard work pays off with a chance at post-college employment that will vault them to the immediate ranks of the nouveau riche.
