Millsaps Frances Lucas faces faculty complaints
Some Millsaps professors have been circulating a petition on campus to demonstrate their disapproval of the leadership of president Frances Lucas as the school navigates through the current economic climate.
Maurice Hall, chairman of the Millsaps board of trustees, said Monday the board has been made aware of the petition.
Reading from a prepared statement, Hall did not identify the specific concerns but indicated he thinks the issues raised in the petition could be attributed to the economy and not Lucas’ leadership.
“Frances has served admirably as our president for nine years, and she is dealing with the same challenges that every other college and university president is facing,” he said.
