Eagle defense shows it’s catching up
HATTIESBURG — In Southern Miss football coach Larry Fedora’s first spring in Hattiesburg, the offense appeared to be well ahead of the defense.
In Year 2, the defense has caught up.
During Saturday’s Black and Gold spring scrimmage the defenders played toe-to-toe with their offensive teammates as the Black won 18-15 on a last-second 35-yard field goal by Daniel Hrapmann. The Black squad was full of first-string players while the Gold team had a roster of players listed down the depth chart.
