Nina Holbrook resigns, can’t back Mayor Melton
A second department head in Mayor Frank Melton’s administration resigned today, saying she could no longer support Melton politically.
Nina Holbrook, the city’s interim director of economic development and planning, said she stepped down amid frustration with city leadership.
Her announcement comes only weeks after Jackson Police Chief Malcolm McMillin resigned, saying he no longer supports Melton as mayor.
“If I can’t support him, I don’t need to be taking his money,” Holbrook said. “I can’t do that.”
