Council to discuss Tyrone Lewis appointment
Jackson’s city council is expected Monday to consider the appointment of Tyrone Lewis as chief of police.
The longtime police officer is serving as interim chief now. Mayor Frank Melton appointed him last week following Malcolm McMillin’s resignation.
Council president Les McLemore has told reporters that the council will likely confirm the appointment, but some council members — including Jeff Weill and Margaret Barrett-Simon — have yet to commit.
