Will NCAA throw book at Alabama?
Textbookgate is not over, opening a new chapter to Alabama’s tenuous two-step with the NCAA.
On Thursday, the university finally acknowledged that it had nearly a year ago received a notice of possible major violations from the NCAA regarding the 2007 textbook scandal that resulted in four-game suspensions for five Crimson Tide football players.
In a letter to the university dated May 2008, the NCAA charged Alabama with failing to properly monitor its textbook distribution program for scholarship athletes, allowing players at least as far back as 2005 to get extra, non-required textbooks and pass them on to friends.
