Note to tour: Party’s over – Tiger is back!

PHOENIX — Just down the road from here, toward Tucson and the Mexican border, he himself is preparing to tee off for the first time since June.

It has been eight months since we have seen Tiger Woods, the top-ranked player in the world, strike a ball in competitive zeal.
The 33-year-old guy with a wife, two little kids, a smattering of gray hairs and a worked-over left knee more suited to a retiring NFL running back than a country-clubber is at the recently opened Dove Mountain Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Marana, Ariz., healthy and feisty and ready to defend his WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship title this week.

”Of course I’ll be nervous,” Tiger said at a Tuesday news conference. ”That’s the greatest thing about it, just to feel that rush.”
