Paul Minor is back in a Pensacola prison after visiting his terminally ill wife, Sylvia, in Baton Rouge for three hours Friday.
“Somebody put a barrier in the way and cut it down from three days to three hours,” his father, Mississippi journalist Bill Minor of Jackson, said Saturday.
His son thought he would have more time with his wife, who is in hospice care at her mother’s home in Baton Rouge.
“There’s no reason for it,” Bill Minor said, “This is extreme.”
Sylvia Minor was with her husband throughout his three-month judicial bribery trial in 2005. The jury could not reach a verdict in the case against Paul Minor and two former state court judges from the Coast, John Whitfield and Wes Teel. Former state Supreme Court Justice Oliver Diaz Jr., who also is from the Coast, was acquitted but lost his bid for re-election.
