How quickly they forget . . .
By a slim, highly partisan 64-to-53 margin, the state House of Representatives voted Thursday to revamp the operation of the Public Service Commission. House Bill 1090 would put the Public Utilities Staff under the supervision of the three elected officials who comprise the Public Service Commission. The staff currently is separate from the commission.
In the current standoff between Attorney General Jim Hood and Entergy, PSC commissioners say that they simply have less staff than they need to conduct investigations like that being pursued by Hood. Hood has accused the utility of buying fuel and power from other Entergy subsidiaries at a higher price than it could on the open market and then passing those costs along to customers.
Entergy has argued that the state PSC, not Hood, is charged with regulating public utilities.
