Auburn snags Mr. Football

Leroy High’s Clint Moseley, the 2008 Mr. Football in Alabama, committed to Auburn on Sunday, receiving a phone call and scholarship offer from new Auburn coach Gene Chizik. Moseley immediately committed, as Auburn became the first SEC school to tender a scholarship offer to the quarterback.

“This is a great relief to know this is where I’m going to go play,” Moseley said in a phone interview Sunday night, “and that I’m going to realize my dream of playing in the SEC. It was one of the best moments of my life.”
Verbal commitments are non-binding, but Moseley said it’s unlikely that he’ll change his mind.
It’s a done deal,” he said.
National Signing Day – the first day seniors are allowed to sign – is Feb. 4.
Moseley becomes the second Mobile-area quarterback to announce his intention to attend Auburn, following Faith Academy’s Raymond Cotton. However, Cotton, who moved to Maryland with his family last summer, de-committed after the Tigers’ coaching change.

With Moseley at quarterback, Leroy won three straight AHSAA Class 2A titles and capped the 2008 season with a 41-8 victory over Sulligent to complete the first 15-0 season in school history. Moseley won his final 25 high school games.
