Taken for Granted: DeFillippo looks past money

An odd thing happened in college football on Jan. 7: the truth was upheld.

Boston College head football coach Jeff Jagodzinski was relieved of his duties after interviewing for the vacant head coaching position with the NFL’s New York Jets.
In only two years on the job at Boston College Jagodzinski won 20 of 28 games, two Atlantic division titles in the ACC, and had a win over Michigan State in the 2007 Champs Sports Bowl.
Why, you ask, was Jagodzinski released after building such an impressive record?
He was fired because athletic director Gene DeFillippo and Jagodzinski didn’t see eye-to-eye about the future of the BC football program. But, don’t say Jagodzinski wasn’t warned.
