Chizik gaining steam at Auburn
Perhaps we better put a hold on that obit for Gene Chizik, after all.
While standing still, the new Auburn coach seems to be making giant strides forward. At the same time, many of his critics and rivals are getting washed out to sea.
What did we all say about Chizik when he was hired? He would get run over by Nick Saban. Had no chance. Well, from the looks of the Sugar Bowl, it was the $4 million man getting rolled by Kyle Whittingham of Utah, who’s W-2 for 2008 will show a salary of $681,000. The Beatdown by Bourbon Street was the culmination of a nightmarish week for Saban.
