Ex-Vols DC Chavis to fill same role at LSU

Longtime Tennessee defensive coordinator John Chavis has agreed in principle to fill the same role at LSU, according to a report on ESPN.com. Chavis, a loyal Phillip Fulmer disciple, lost his job with the Volunteers when Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin agreed to serve under his son, new Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin.

Chavis’ deal will be for multiple years at more than $500,000 per year, according to the report. It will be finalized this week.
