Disbarred Booneville lawyer Joey Langston is scheduled to appear in federal court at 10 a.m. today to be sentenced in a judicial corruption case.
Langston pleaded guilty nearly a year ago to conspiring to influence Hinds County Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter in a legal fee dispute case involving Dickie Scruggs.
Scruggs, who also has been disbarred, is serving five years in federal prison in Kentucky in an unrelated judicial bribery case in Lafayette County involving another legal fee dispute.
Langston told authorities he schemed to influence DeLaughter in the case involving Scruggs’ former law partner, Bob Wilson, who sued to get a larger share of the legal fees he said he was owed from successful asbestos litigation.
