Dear Santa, don’t forget some local recipients

It’s the Christmas season and we’ve got that giving feeling. But before those warm and fuzzies dissipate and we retreat to our normal surly selves, I thought I’d make a Christmas list for the folks who dominate the local news. OK, so I made it up.

First on my list is Jackson Mayor Frank Melton. He’s the gift that keeps on giving. The man gives us so much so write about, and for Marshall Ramsey to draw, we often don’t know where to begin. But, alas, I’ve asked ol’ Santa to stop by Frank’s house and give him something that he needs badly. Santa, Frank’s in desperate need of a souped-up Mobile Command Unit. More lights, spinners, you know the drill. Can we send the old one to the crew at MTV so they can “pimp his ride?” Throw in a couple of new sledgehammers for good measure.

Next up is Malcolm McMillin, the man with so many titles that they won’t all fit on a resume’. Just what is he? The police chief? The sheriff? The aspiring Broadway performer? Santa, this man has more jobs than half of Hinds County. Now, pray tell, I hear he’s got his eyes on the mayor’s office. So Santa, for Christmas, let’s give this guy a slogan, a real catchy one: “The name’s Mac and I’ll always have your back.” Uh, we’d better keep practicing, Santa.
