Mullen leaving gives Tebow a dose of reality
Amid the awards and adulation this week, Tim Tebow had a sobering moment when his coach, friend and mentor, offensive coordinator Dan Mullen, left the Gators to become the head coach at Mississippi State.
Tebow said he still doesn’t know if Mullen will be calling plays when Florida plays Oklahoma for the national championship on Jan. 8. When asked Friday in New York City if Mullen’s departure puts a damper on the week – Tebow is up for the Heisman Trophy tomorrow, and won the Maxwell Award last night for college football’s best all-around player – Tebow said it does.
