3 assistants, administrator not on Mullen’s staff
STARKVILLE — Dan Mullen spent his first day as Mississippi State’s football coach working out of Sylvester Croom’s old office at the Bryan Building here as he worked to shape his staff and shore MSU’s recruiting class.
Mullen, the Florida offensive coordinator, accepted the MSU job Wednesday morning.
He was already making calls to recruits before his flight from Gainesville to Starkville took off that afternoon. Since many of them were at the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Classic in Mobile, Mullen joked that he could contact much of the class by just asking them to pass the phone around.
