STARKVILLE — Mississippi State University is turning to the football coach in charge of one of the nation’s top offenses on the nation’s top-ranked team to lead its program into the future.
MSU and University of Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen reached an agreement Wednesday morning for Mullen to become MSU’s head coach. Sylvester Croom resigned the post under pressure Nov. 29.
“This is a great reception,” Mullen said on Wednesday afternoon over the din of cowbells at Starkville’s Bryan Field airport, where fans had gathered in the cold mist to witness his arrival.
