Really, Alabama did what it wanted to do. It ran the ball. It limited Florida’s running game and it held the lead going into the fourth quarter.

But seemingly every time his team needed it, Gators quarterback Tim Tebow made a play and his team scored the game’s final two touchdowns to claim a 31-20 victory and force Alabama to wake from its dream season.

Florida outscored Alabama 14-0 in a fourth quarter that Urban Meyer said “will go down as one of the greatest ever at the University of Florida.”

It was tough to swallow, but for Tide players and their coach.

“I feel responsible for everything that didn’t go right,” Nick Saban said, “and I only wish that I could have done more to help all those players, coaches and people do more to help make it right. That’s my feelings and my emotion. I’m responsible for it, and I just wish that I could have done more.”

Saban summed it up with this …

“I want our players not to hang their head. They’ve got a lot to be proud of in terms of what they accomplished.”
