Sylvester Croom was the right coach at the right time for Mississippi State.
It becomes more clear with each passing season there is just one criteria that matters in the high-profile, big-money, big-stakes world of a college football head coach these days: the win-loss column. In the end, despite a person’s assets — and Croom has many — that is the ultimate measuring stick.

Croom led the Bulldogs to some big wins, as Alabama, Auburn and Florida fans can attest. There just weren’t enough of those wins in his five seasons.
