South’s dominance makes mockery of Big 12 race

In a perfect world, the Big 12 North would be allowed to wallow in its mediocrity and really, no one would care.
We’re not there yet, folks.
Sadly, we’re stuck in this purgatory where three Big 12 teams ranked in the top five of the BCS standings (all from the South) not only means one of those teams could and probably will compete for the national championship — but we’re also guaranteed not to see the conference’s best two teams square off Dec. 6 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City in the Big 12 Championship.

Go ahead, say it’s a one-year glitch, an aberration because of an unusually strong year in the South.
