A day after the general election ended with no contested races, election officials, political parties and voters rights groups have several voting issues they want addressed.
Some may require an audit or legislative action.
It’s unclear how many Mississippians voted in the historic presidential election. Officials spent Wednesday counting affidavit and absentee ballots, and the final number is expected to break voting records in the state.
Organizers with a coalition of groups called “Protect the Vote” said they received hundreds of complaints on Tuesday, from improper requests to show identification, names missing from voter rolls, refusal to provide assistance to seniors, voting machine breakdowns and machines switching votes.
