Bull’s-eye is on No. 1 Longhorns

The burden belongs to Texas.
So does the bull’s-eye.
That’s what comes with being No. 1 in the first BCS standings of the season.
The Longhorns were the overwhelming choice Sunday, but history tells them they’ve got a large target on their backs.
Texas will be vying to become the first team in four years to open atop the BCS standings and go on to win the national championship game.
Just two teams have managed to do so in the 10-year history of the BCS — USC in 2004 and Florida State in ’99.

No. 1 Texas (7-0), No. 2 Alabama (7-0) and No. 3 Penn State (8-0) set themselves apart as pace setters on the road to Miami and the BCS national championship Jan. 8 at Dolphin Stadium.
