Did Bowden want it bad enough to succeed in today’s college football world?

What a weekend! Texas shows out, Gundy IS a man

By Bo Bounds, Chief Sports Maverick

Yallsports.com will give out 4 gameballs this week:
1. The Texas Longhorns: The best football game this year. Texas took Oklahom’s best shot and was dominating the Sooners by the end of the game. Congrats to Colt McCoy, Mack Brown
and Will Muschamp.
2. Oklahoma State: Come at me, I’m a man! Yes, Mike Gundy is a man. He’s a man coaching for his job and embracing the pressure. Ok State hit Mizzou and Chase Daniel in the mouth. Another great
game. Nothing like T. Boone Pickens motivating you….his commercials are outstanding!
3. Florida Gators: Wow. The Gators were outstanding. Florida (like Georgia) has the potential to play for the ring.
4. UGA: The Georgia Bulldogs found their pride. Tenn can bring it on the defensive side of the football. Richt and the Bulldogs got the most out of that off-week. UGA is still a player in the sprint to Atlanta.

Bowden says goodbye…

According to Ron Morris, with thestate.com, Bowden called Clemson Athletic Director (Terry Don Phillips) and put the idea of resigning on the table. Sounds like a guy who was ok with a $4 million buyout. Maybe T. Bowden was ready to head to the beach. Coach Bowden didn’t want it bad enough. The ACC has been down for 5-6 years. When FSU and Miami are down in the ACC, a program like Clemson has to win an ACC title.
In this high-stakes, win at-all-costs game called college football, coaches need to have that fire 365 days a year.

SEE: Urban Meyer, Nick Saban and Bob Stoops.

Game of the week: Mizzou @ Texas
