Coaching contracts extension of absurdity in college
Barely 13 months ago, Bill Callahan was extended through January 2012 at Nebraska.
“In terms of what he’s done for the program, he has certainly met or exceeded my expectations at this juncture,” athletic director Steve Pederson said at the time.
Six weeks later, Pederson was fired. Callahan was canned soon after because he had done little to earn the money that Pederson tossed his way.
In one of the swiftest and most radical changes of an athletic administration in recent memory, Pederson was replaced by legend Tom Osborne, who then landed Bo Pelini, defensive coordinator of national champion LSU, as the new coach.
And you thought Tommy Bowden was a surprise on Monday?
