Commentary: Sky’s the limit for UT after Red River win
DALLAS — This game decided nothing, only that Texas is better than Oklahoma and that the Longhorns deserve to be in the national championship conversation.
OK, that’s something. But still.
“Now we’re looking at a bigger goal,” Mack Brown said.
There you go. Instead of pretending expectations hadn’t changed with Saturday’s 45-35 victory over the Sooners, the Texas coach chose to embrace those expectations.
“This gives us a chance to end up where we want to be if we’re good enough,” Brown said.
Until Saturday, it was impossible to know what to make of a team ranked fifth in the country.
The Longhorns had beaten five opponents by an average of 36 points. They’d trailed for seven minutes.
