PARRISH ALFORD:Rebels are ‘on the verge’ … of what, exactly?

OXFORD – Should being a college football fan in Northeast Mississippi really be so painful?
A friend approached me one day last week, and we discussed football.

Discussing how we can achieve much-needed drilling in various parts of the U.S. is less complex right now, but I obliged and imparted this borrowed wisdom: “If we could combine the Ole Miss offense and State’s defense, we might be getting somewhere.”
After the Ole Miss offense turned the ball over six times, and State’s proud defense gave up multiple city blocks of rushing yards in downtown Atlanta, I’m not so sure.
When the Rebels didn’t turn the ball over against Memphis and held offensive penalties to a minimum, I thought they might be poised for a fast start on the side of the ball where they clearly needed improvement the most.
Now they’ve averaged almost four turnovers over the last three games.
