Not the right time to ask Peyton to say ‘Cheese’

As father of the last two Super Bowl MVPs, Archie Manning is patriarch of what seemingly must be football’s most photographed family. Now, he wants you to send him your football photos.

Manning is a spokesman for the “Why Do You Love Football” Photo Challenge being conducted by Canon and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. All the details can be found at www.usa.canon.com/nfl. But Manning suggests now probably isn’t the best time to ask his son Peyton to smile and say “Cheese,” because he hasn’t been in the best of moods while recovering from knee surgery.
“The one thing I haven’t done is talk to him a lot about it,” Manning says. “He kind of gave me a little hint about that early on. I asked him how he was doing and he said, ‘We’re not going to deal with this every day for the next six weeks, are we?’ ”
Archie says there’s no doubt Peyton has been frustrated during his idle time.
“On the surface, he seems to have handled it, but he’s never been through it before,” Archie says of the rehabilitation process. “I just talked to him on the phone. I know he’s been crazy inside.”
