Mississippi State counts on Carroll

When Mississippi State’s starting quarterback position was officially handed over to sophomore Wesley Carroll, the youngster could only hope that he didn’t inherit the plague of bad luck and debilitating injuries that have come with it.
Former quarterback Michael Henig endured multiple injuries and surgeries in his three-year career before a chronic hip injury (requiring yet another surgery and an eight-month rehabilitation) finally persuaded him to call it quits.
The early indications are that Lady Luck is smiling more favorably on Carroll, a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native who played at football power St. Thomas Aquinas.
