U.S. Rep. Travis Childers of Booneville has three times as much campaign cash on hand as his general election opponent, Southaven Mayor Greg Davis, new finance reports show.
The Federal Election Commission, which keeps track of campaign contributions and spending, shows Democrat Childers with $160,976.47 in the bank June 30. Republican Davis’ report shows $53,915.94 on hand.
The two will meet in the Nov. 4 general election for a full, two-year term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Childers beat Davis in a May 13 special election runoff after then-Rep. Roger Wicker of Tupelo was appointed to the U.S. Senate.
