In the lighthearted movie “Shakespeare in Love”, a hapless producer named Henslowe is trying to keep his theatre in business. He is accosted by two henchmen and his loan shark, who threaten grave injury to Henslowe unless he pays up. When asked how he intends to work things out despite his theatre being closed down by the government, he responds, “I don’t know. It’s a mystery.” Immediately following his comment, a proclamation issues that the theatres are now reopened by order of the government, and he goes merrily on his way.
