About $854 million is expected to be spent on Jackson metro-area road projects over the next four years, including more than $370 million for the Hinds-Rankin Airport Parkway project.
At $370.1 million through 2010, the Airport Parkway project is the costliest in the metro area. According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation, the 12-mile parkway from I-55 to Mississippi 475/Airport Road could cost nearly $500 million by completion.
Construction is slated for a 2010 start, MDOT’s plan shows. MDOT is in the public comment phase of its plan.
