Croom has reason to smile at Media Days
Mississippi State football coach Sylvester Croom finally has a reason to smile when he enters the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Ala., for Southeastern Conference Media Days.
For the first time, Croom will participate in SEC Football Media Days after having a winning season.
Mississippi State was 8-5 and defeated Central Florida 10-3 in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl last season.
The winning season has encouraged Mississippi State fans and given them hope about the future. The Bulldogs have beaten Alabama two years in a row and reclaimed the Golden Egg by defeating rival Ole Miss last season to spark hope.
Mississippi State beat Kentucky and Ole Miss during a stretch of winning four of five games to end the season.
That gave the Bulldogs momentum going into the offseason and seems to have sparked something else in the process.
Interest in Mississippi State from local recruits has been evident in recent weeks as Noxubee County’s Patrick Patterson and Deontae Skinner, and East Webster’s Jonathan Banks have verbally committed to the Bulldogs.
The job Croom has done has not been lost by Patterson.
