Cameron Lawrence – Dandy Dozen
Cameron Lawrence has never heard of Will Arnold. And the name Will Overstreet only rings a bell.
But on Tuesday, Lawrence stamped his name beside those two former standouts when he became the third football player in Mississippi Private School Association history to be named by The Clarion-Ledger to the Dandy Dozen.
Lawrence (6 feet 3, 205 pounds), a versatile quarterback and defensive back for Magnolia Heights in Senatobia, was the eighth player named to the 20th annual dream team.
“I have always liked doing things that not many other people have done, so it’s a great feeling to be one of the only ones,” said Lawrence, who joins Arnold (Centreville Academy, ’02) and Jackson Prep’s Overstreet (’97) as Dandy Dozen picks from the MPSA. “It’s really an honor.”
Lawrence recorded 110 tackles and five interceptions last season, while also rushing for 1,200 yards and passing for another 900 yards. He finished with 22 touchdowns, including a 99-yard interception return and a 98-yard punt return.
