Gov. on Gallo. May 20th, 2008
Gov. Barbour tacked on four additional items to the Special Session, including tweaking Voter ID, Immigration, and Coast Water and Sewer Infrastructure. I’ve heard from several members of the House that Item One (MESC Reauthorization Bill) should proceed as a clean bill. We’ll see.
The tax incentives bill to put casinos on equal footing with anyone else who wishes to invest millions, if not billions, in amenities is more important now than ever.
With Florida’s gaming competition likely drawing players away from the Coast and the falling economy, lawmakers need to start thinking ahead.
The new numbers are in and they are not pretty. The MS State Tax Commission states that numbers show we’re down $31,000,000.00 in April tax revenues. Seems when you write the zeros out, it’s a hell of a lot more impressionable!
Gov. Haley Barbour joins me from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Wednesday’s Gallo Show. As always, phone lines will be open at 601-952-0986 in the Capital City, state and nationwide at 1-888-808-8637 and Cellular South customers, free call at Star 222.
