In sworn statement, inmate links mayor, alleged killer

Mayor Frank Melton has been trying for years to finger the person he believes shot and killed a Jackson police officer.

Now, with the arrest of Sharrod Ray Moore, Melton said the case “is resolved beyond a reasonable doubt.”

But there are still many unanswered questions surrounding the slaying of Patrolman Robert Washington, including Melton’s connection to and interest in the 12-year-old case.
