Dick Cheney to campaign for 1st District candidate
Vice President Dick Cheney will be in north Mississippi next week to campaign for a Republican the day before a special election to fill an open congressional seat.
Jamie Hennigan, a spokesman for the vice president, confirmed Monday that Cheney will appear May 12 at a rally for Greg Davis.
Davis faces Democrat Travis Childers in a May 13 runoff in north Mississippi’s 1st District.
The winner will serve the final few months of a two-year term that Republican Roger Wicker started in January 2007. Wicker was appointed to the U.S. Senate this past December after the GOP’s Trent Lott resigned.
