Gallo Notes 4/21/08

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 22, 2008

Gallo Notes: Hey, did you hear the latest old age joke about John McCain?
Why not just shoot dear ole granddad between the eyes and be done with it now. I think it’s too much to ask that this culture take a long hard look at itself and see what they’re doing to a growing population of elderly Americans. Stop it with the McCain jokes from Leno to Stewart to Colbert to Letterman to the DNC. These are the heroes who survived more than one hell of a fight in arm pits places of the world. Not to mention a Depression that would send most of Hollywood into a suicidal frenzy.
For all the negatives we can list on one page about the Far East, they put us to shame in understanding the value and respecting the lives of the elderly. At 72, John McCain would become the oldest man to be president of the United States of America. About the time Jane Fonda was cavorting with the enemy, McCain was trying to suppress screams so as not to delight the Viet Cong with pleasure in their torture.
We’ve got a long way till November for joke writers to earn a living at the expense of a war hero and fellow senior citizens. If they are lucky enough to still have their grandfathers in their lives, I think it would be wonderful if he would take just a few minutes to beat the hell out of them. Sorry, just a thought.
