The transcripts from the pleas
One distinction between the two players in court today: I have no doubt that Judge Biggers came away convinced that Sidney Backstrom had accepted responsibility for what he did wrong. I equally suspect that it would be hard to accept that Dickie Scruggs has done so.
Anyhow, here are the plea transcripts, and later I’ll try to comment on what I see that is meaningful in the Backstrom transcript that I’ve not yet been able to describe. I’ll try to get to it tomorrow. Meantime, here are the Richard Scruggs plea transcript and the Backstrom plea transcript.
