Auditors have been digging since January

State Auditor Stacey Pickering on Monday said it is the policy of his office to neither confirm nor deny an investigation exists.

But Jones County District Attorney Tony Buckley did confirm the investigation.

“I can confirm that there is an investigation by the auditor’s office concerning a longtime employee under the previous administration,” Buckley said Monday. “My office has not received a file yet, but they will turn over a file to my office. I expect it to take a little longer to close out the investigation.”
