Candidates for the 1st District congressional seat say that securing the U.S.-Mexico border is critical to stopping the flow of illegal immigrants.
In response to a Daily Journal questionnaire on domestic issues, seven of the eight candidates specifically mentioned securing the border as an important step in dealing with the problem.
“Use any means necessary to secure our borders,” said Dr. Randy Russell of Oxford, one of three Republicans in the March 11 primary.
His two GOP opponents, Glenn McCullough Jr. of Tupelo and Greg Davis of Southaven, agreed. McCullough said securing the border “should be the federal government’s immediate priority.”
