MS Senate Approves Death Penalty for Child Predators

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 28, 2008

WJTV, 2/27/8

The state senate has approved a bill that authorizes the death penalty for anyone convicted of raping or committing sexually battery against a child under the age of 12 at least twice.

District 41 Sen. Joey Fillingane, principal sponsor of the legislation, says the bill was proposed by the state Department of Human Services.

Fillingane says, ” …we just felt very strongly that we need to send a strong message that to leave the children alone for your own good if not for theirs.”
