Before getting a car tag at the county tax collector’s office, Mississippians would be required to show proof of insurance under a bill the Mississippi Senate passed Wednesday.
Some say Senate Bill 2111 would help cut down on the number of uninsured drivers, making the roads safer for everyone.
But critics say the legislation would cause a decrease in the number of tags issued – already a problem for the state’s capital city because of high assessments.
