Hosemann pushes to re-register voters

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 19, 2008

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, 2/19/8

Mississippi’s registered voters who do not participate in November’s presidential elections would have to re-register to vote again under legislation passed Monday by the Senate Elections Committee.

The wide-ranging elections bill also would allow anyone to go to the circuit clerk’s office and vote as early as 15 days before the regularly scheduled election.

The ideas are being pushed by newly elected Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann. The Republican said the proposal would help eliminate voter fraud in Mississippi.
