Could Barbour make run alongside McCain?

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 18, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 2/18/8

With their presidential nomination all but settled, Republicans now turn to the question that will dominate their spring: Whom will Arizona Sen. John McCain pick as his running mate?

Among those most often mentioned is Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour.

Mississippi Republican Party Executive Director Brad White said he has not heard anything from Barbour or anyone else that would indicate Barbour is seriously considering being a running mate. Still, he feels that Barbour is as good as any other national figure being mentioned.

“This is all due to the name recognition, record and the respect Barbour has in the Republican Party nationally,” White said. “They know there are few people who have as much respect as Gov. Barbour, but I think that is as far as it goes.”
